Assessment of groundwater vulnerability using the GIS approach-based GOD method in Surat district of Gujarat state, India

Abstract There are different sources of groundwater pollution among them industrial water disposal, seawater ingress, usage pesticides and fertilizers in agricultural fields, municipal residential wastewater disposal. The aim the study is to assess vulnerability terms quality using GOD method Geographical Investigation System approach for Surat its surroundings. Groundwater confinement, overlying strata depth table three parameters that used assessment vulnerability. In this study, all given by conventional weights which suggested Foster 1987. Based on Mahuva, Mandvi, Umarpada some parts Bardoli talukas lie very high-vulnerability zones whereas another part area lies a zone. Almost 35.98% district higher-vulnerability Depth important effectively cause This may help management, watershed management as well it much useful policymakers local authorities government.
